It has with many tavernas and cafes and several Byzantine churches dating to the 13th and 15th century all of which are worth visiting. On the 3rd June 1941the village was razed to the ground and a marble column was erected informing the world that the village of Kandanos was destroyed in retaliation for the murder of 25 German soldiers. Kandanos is now a beautiful village and in its main square you will still see the column.
